This work was co-commissioned by Carnegie Hall, The Royal Conservatory of Music, The National Concert hall, and Wigmore Hall with the support of André Hoffman, president of the Foundation Hoffman, a Swiss grant-making foundation. The World Premiere was given by Brad Mehldau in Zankel Hall, Carnegie Hall, New York City on October 22, 2015.
