Jerrald "Jerry" Goldsmith was one of the most influential and prolific composers in film and television scoring. Goldsmith began his career in television, composing for television shows "The Twilight Zone" and "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." He went on to collaborate with some of the most well-known directors in film including Robert Wise, Roman Polanski, and Paul Verhoeven. His famous scores with these directors and others, includePatton, Poltergeist, Alien, Basic Instinct, Planet of the Apes, and LA Confidential. In his lifetime, Goldsmith was nominated for 18 Academy Awards, winning only one for his score in The Omen.
